Unsigned prototype

Test the Microsoft Store package prototype

The MSIX build is ready for hands-on Windows testing. It is unsigned, uses a test identity and requires Developer Mode. It has not been certified or published in Microsoft Store.

Package 1.0.1.0

Application version 0.1.1. Choose the testing ZIP for the simplest setup: it contains the same verified application files with their original filenames, ready for developer registration. No Windows SDK, Python installation or certificate import is needed for the ZIP.

Double-click installation of the unsigned MSIX is unavailable. Use the testing ZIP and registration steps below. The MSIX alternative requires MakeAppx unpacking from the Windows SDK; ordinary ZIP extraction of an MSIX can leave encoded filenames incorrect.

Release notes, package receipt and checksums

Register and launch on Windows 11

Use a disposable Windows user or VM with synthetic data. The prototype shares the EveValkenberg local-data directory with the website edition; close that edition before launching. Keep the extracted files in place for as long as the prototype is registered.

  1. 01

Verify the download. In PowerShell, run Get-FileHash 'PATH-TO-DOWNLOADED-ZIP' -Algorithm SHA256 and compare it with the ZIP checksum above.

  2. 02

Enable Developer Mode. Search for Developer Mode in Windows Settings and enable it for the test machine.

  3. 03

Extract the entire testing ZIP. Use %USERPROFILE%\EVT-msix-test as the extraction folder. It should contain EVT.Prototype_1.0.1.0_x64\AppxManifest.xml, the Assets and app folders, and README.txt.

  4. 04

Register with ordinary PowerShell. Run the commands below as your test user. Launch through Start or AppsFolder to receive package identity; running the EXE directly will fail.

$Stage = Join-Path $env:USERPROFILE 'EVT-msix-test\EVT.Prototype_1.0.1.0_x64'
Add-AppxPackage -Register (Join-Path $Stage 'AppxManifest.xml')
$Package = Get-AppxPackage -Name EVT.Prototype
Start-Process explorer.exe -ArgumentList ("shell:AppsFolder\" + $Package.PackageFamilyName + "!EVT")

In EVT Settings, confirm Microsoft Store-managed updates and package version 1.0.1.0. Test startup, your browser/assistant, retained local data and credentials. This development registration does not enable Store update delivery.

Premium pages require billing-account pairing. Payment collection remains closed; do not transfer ISK.

To remove only the prototype registration, run:

Get-AppxPackage -Name EVT.Prototype | Remove-AppxPackage

Keep your test files and data until retention checks are complete. Avoid the app’s explicit local-data deletion action on ordinary personal data.
